Welcome to Hickory Hills Hideaway!
HHH is a refuge in the East Texas Piney Woods that serves as a wildlife safe haven and adventure camp for family, friends, and scouts. Hickory Hills's name was coined after noticing all the hickory trees located all over the hills of the land, and it quickly became a secluded hideaway for camping and escaping the hustle and bustle of city life.
We welcome you to explore this site and the picture gallery, read some of the stories, and escape wherever your imagination takes you. Hickory Hills has brought us many years of enjoyment and adventure, and we hope it provides the same experiences for you.

Hickory Hills Hideaway is located in the small East Texas town of Larue. It is just off of 175, between Athens and Frankston. It is only a short two hour drive from the Dallas metroplex.§
Hickory Hills was bought in 1992 with the purpose of being a refuge, both for families and wildlife. Originally just under 200 acres was bought, and over the years, HHH has been expanded to 327 acres. §Great effort has been made to keep HHH virtually untouched except for a few trails being cleared through the forests.
There were three structures already on the land, including a pole barn that quickly became the place to gather and get out of inclement weather. In 2009 the addition of a steel barn will allow for a more permanent residence. §HHH also has two ponds that hold water most of the year, and has the second and third highest points in the county. This affords excellent breezes year round and spectacular views of the southern landscapes.
